Eating away at Medicare

We'll have to pry the donuts away from their cold, glazed, sprinkled hands....
Americans simply are not taking this problem seriously. We've heard the concerns about Baby Boomers wiping out Medicare. How will that happen? With diabetes, knee replacements and all the obesity-related problems Boomers will face. This year's results show the obesity rate is higher among older Boomers than (55 to 64) than those 65 and beyond.

Gaaahhh! Google reader should come with a warning before you click on the original post! Medicare was a lost cause long ago, IMO, just because of longer life expectancy and the ails that may come along with it. Like any other machine, well oiled or not, shit wears out with age and needs to be repaired or replaced. Then we have the boomers, the first generation to have access to fast food, high calorie/low nutrition "convenience" foods and it magnifies the problem to Defcon 4 levels.

(Now imagine the guy in the picture as a female, pregnant, in labor, with an epidural and you have to flip her over....welcome to my world. This is close to the size of most of my patients. Let's hear it for the generation raised entirely on fast food. Yay.)

Sisu- I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I like to think of my blog as an escape from your job, not a reminder of it.

K- couldn't help it. As soon as I located the pic (I Googled "fat hippie") I knew it must be used.

Would I be forgiven if I posted another tanned, built surfer dude in an upcoming post?
