Generation Y’s closeness with their parents is a drastic switch from Generation X — those roughly born between 1965 and 1976 — who had the least amount of parental involvement.
“There tends to be some clashing,” Whalen said. “Generation X says ‘we fought for everything we have, did it on our own’ and there are conflicts between generations.”
Generation X lacks the “pack mentality” that Generation Y possesses.
“Generation X is more individualistic and can get things done on their own,” Whalen said. “Generation Y tends to need teams to be more productive. It’s more difficult for them on their own.”

Dear lord. Generation Y is so whiney. Work isn't supposed to be fun or to enable the development of your self-centered personality, that's why it called "Work"! Do I have to be lumped in with these jokels?
As I recall, the kids born in '77 and later, the little kids in my neighborhood growing up, were the ones who had the world completely 'kid-proofed' for them. Jeebus, they got the "Slow - Children At Play" signs, flurking speed bumps on the streets where they played, and a buttload of laws written up to protect them from this imagined or potential threat or that. When massive amounts of Baby Boomers became parents, they made up all this pushy shit -- adults and older kids got waaay pushed to the margins for the welfare of the Gen-Y weiner kids.
Ahh LT, you're really hard on the Gen Y's. I really don't think they're that bad and they do have a ton of upside. I deal with multiple Gen Yers every day and they, as a whole, are much more cognizant of what's going on in the world than the Xers ever were at a similar age (our voter turnout was horrible). Had ass clowns like those in YAF never been born you may feel differently?
rockie, don't forget the most useless safety net of all time- those damn "Baby on Board" signs in the back window of cars!
