There are some songs I hear and say "I'll never be able to play that on gee-tar". And then I check out the tabs, break it down, and discover it wasn't that difficult after all. And then there are songs by Paul Gilbert that I wouldn't be able to play even if he personally instructed me.
Thanks Paul, for confirming I suck.

..hope I die before
Boring shit that you don't care about:
Guilty as charged. I really don't give much brain power to those last few years of my life when a nurse will be spooning me mashed peas and pretending to not be annoyed for having to change my Depends for the 3rd time in an hour.
But, but, but didn't Dennis Hopper say retirement is like being all young again in that commercial??
Many members of Generation-X say they feel unprepared for long-term care and do not feel they are taking the necessary steps to prepare for their futures, according to a survey released today by America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). The survey, conducted by StrategyOne on behalf of AHIP, found that over half (52 percent) of respondents born between 1960 and 1980 feel somewhat or entirely unprepared for long-term care. They also place more immediate financial concerns ahead of affording long-term care, with 44 percent of respondents ranking the need to save for retirement as their first or second priority.

Delayed Graduation
You're about to find out having a diploma is over-rated.The Hall of Fame quarterback says he’s passed his two final college courses and will graduate in June from UCLA—20 years after he left for the NFL.
A candidate to get behind
Porn Star and GenXster, Stormy Daniels, will be taking on the wife-cheater David Vitter in the 'up and coming' Louisiana Senate race.
Beware Mr. Vitter. Stormy has taken down many men much bigger than you.

Boomer Cocksuckery
No asshole, our "sneers" are justified. And be sure to take all the Social Security before you check out.
"Over the past decade and more it has become fashionable for aging Generation X-ers to sneer at the older baby boomers who preceded them in America's generational cohorts. There is a rough justice in this: No American generation was ever as hate-filled, sneering and contemptuous of their parents, nor as self-indulgent and self-righteous as they themselves aged, as the boomers have been. But like any kind of age, race or religious prejudice painted with a broad brush, the Generation X whines and sneers at their predecessors are as simplistic as the boomers' rants in their day were, and it gets old and ridiculous just as fast."
Hard to find a hero
Alex Rodriguez fessed up today for using steroids and I'm finding it hard to care. We grew up in an era where 'Vitamin S' seemed to be used by many and easy to attain by all, so I'm pretty unaffected by this confession that has no bearing on my life. It was just 'there' and a reality for us at the time. There's alota blah, blah, blah about him being a role model for kids but I think Charles Barkley said it best in the commercial below: "Just because I dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids". Really, our country has bigger concerns than an athlete sticking needles in his ass.

When slacking pays off
From Boston.com
I know not all Xsters fall into the category as being "recession-resistant", but I fortunately belong to this niche. I have zero credit card debt, no mortgage, no car payment, no children and have paid off the student loans. But damn, some of my amigos are hurtin'. Many are upside down on their mortgages and others have been laid off in recent months. I kept on meaning to buy a house, but I could never justify moving from the beach to a bland neighborhood with other first time home buyers, so I've continued to piss my $ away in rent. But now, assuming I don't get canned at work, the once impossible is now happening; the home prices have come down enough where I can purchase at the beach.
Regardless of whatever happens with our economy Gen X will be prepared. Besides that 5 year span during the Roaring 90's we were never blessed with good economic times, so we've amassed the survivalist skills to pull through.
Although I do feel like I'm in pissing-blood-pain when I read my 2008 401K review.
WE MOVED to San Francisco and Brooklyn and Mission Hill. We jumped from job to job. Put off marriage. Never bought a place. And we never heard the end of it. We were drifters, they said. Layabouts. No respect for work and real estate or the value of a good pair of cufflinks.
But now, in the cold glare of a recession, everything looks different: We've got no house to lose, no career to dash, no school-aged children in need of pricey Wii gaming systems.
Not recession-proof, exactly, but recession-resistant, at least.

Porn Again Christians
Damn, they're actually serious.Yeah we said it….Nobody talks about it, but most people have done it or are still doing it. It's seems to be a rite of passage for both girls and guys into the world of sex. Some say masturbation is not a sin, some say that it is. But is it really okay in the eyes of God?
Are they crazy? It should just read "you'll go blind". What is wrong with these azzholes? After all, masturbation has kept many people out of prison.
H/T: Jesus' General
Probably in paperback by now
Very strange. Jeff Gordinier's book came out many months ago and someone is just getting around to reviewing it.
I hope enough of us bought his work so he can get another book deal to lay into the Millenials a little more.
It was 1991 when everything changed. Before that, music sucked, TV sucked, movies sucked. Anything of merit that had grown out of the late ’70s and early ’80s, like punk or new wave or Blade Runner, had been subsumed by the Reagan/Bush years and Boomer greed. By the early ’90s, it was all Color Me Badd, in some permutation or another.
There was one bastion of dirty, weird hope, though: MTV’s “120 Minutes.” And it was on this show, which for two hours every week would play the likes of the Dead Kennedys, The Pixies, and Echo & the Bunnymen, that Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” first aired, coalescing the feelings and fears of an entire generation into an orgasmic mosh pit of pissed-off, ennui-filled, flannel-clad anarchy.
I hope enough of us bought his work so he can get another book deal to lay into the Millenials a little more.

Florida, great place to vacation but I wouldn't wanna..
Not far from moi:
In Orlando a dude calls 911 to report being maced by a State Trooper:
I wouldn't fight this guy without at least a spiked bat:
MANATEE COUNTY – A Bradenton man splashed a cup of urine in his girlfriend’s face, pelted her with a half-dozen eggs and threatened to set her on fire Saturday morning, according to a Manatee Sheriff’s report.
In Orlando a dude calls 911 to report being maced by a State Trooper:
the Florida Highway Patrol released the 911 call where the suspect can be heard screaming for help, even though the video shows him resisting arrest the whole time.
I wouldn't fight this guy without at least a spiked bat:
A worker picking up trash in Lake Worth, Fla., was attacked by an alligator and dragged underwater, deputies said...................Kuebler said that Velasco had gone back to work after being attacked.
Fuck the AP
GenX artist jammed up. Associated Press looking to cash in on a photo they forgot they took.
On buttons, posters and Web sites, the image was everywhere during last year's presidential campaign: A pensive Barack Obama looking upward, as if to the future, splashed in a Warholesque red, white and blue and underlined with the caption HOPE.
Designed by Shepard Fairey, a Los-Angeles based street artist, the image has led to sales of hundreds of thousands of posters and stickers, has become so much in demand that copies signed by Fairey have been purchased for thousands of dollars on eBay.

It's not in the name
She hates being referred to as "Generation X"
Then she gets all 60's-radical-unrealistic hippie on us.
Sigh.
But the Gen Xers? Nope, all we get is a letter. C’mon, we grew up
with Atari, Pac Man, and The Fonz, for goodness’ sake; don’t we deserve just a little pizzazz?
Then she gets all 60's-radical-unrealistic hippie on us.
Can you imagine what kind of great things a generation might do if they came into the world tagged with a really hopeful generation name? Born into Generation World Peace? How about being in the Everyone Will Look Up to You in Awe Generation? The Love-All Generation. Generation High IQ. Or, if you’re not into pressure, just The Self-Acceptance Generation.
Sigh.
