Let's keep the past in the past

Damn, there were some awesome acts that played at this traveling circus. I caught the 1st two years. In '92 I earned 18 stitches on the forehead due to an elbow in the mosh pit when Pearl Jam played. What the fuck was I doing? I never even cared for Pearl Jam. In my correct opinion they don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the other Seattle heavyweights Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Nirvana.

Several of the artists, including Green Day and Cypress Hill, skipped at least one Lollapalooza tour date in order to appear at Woodstock '94 instead. (Green Day held the opening slot for the show in Atlanta, flying to New York immediately afterwards.) Nirvana was scheduled to headline but officially pulled out on April 7, 1994, amid strong rumors that the band was on the verge of breaking up. Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead in Seattle, Washington the following day.

NOTE: Everyone promise we won't do a lame ass 25th year reunion as they did for Woodstock. Full disclosure: I went to Woodstock '94. I had fun but it was a corporate, money sucking nightmare run by boomers that still thought they were relevant.

Thanks for posting this. Yes, this was the past, but it's nice to reminisce every once in a while. I was at the SPAC stop in 1992 and vaguely remember the downpour, but for the life of me, I can't remember the mud slide Wikipedia describes but shit, I'm getting old, too. The little I do remember was Ministry having something like 6 guitarists on stage and Ice Cube. It's criminal I can't remember Rage Against the Machine. Not much else pops up in my addled brain, but thanks for the memories.

I missed Woodstock ’94, but friends went and described the corporate atmosphere you mentioned.

Hmmm, already with the "You're just a youngster, but I remember when I . . . " Geez, I thought that was just from my granpa!!

Ice- doing a little of the ole reminscing is cool, I'm just worried about Lolla getting cheapened years later by doing a reunion tour by a bunch of 60 something GenXsters. And Ministry was nuts. No lie their set has forever damaged my hearing. The Ramones concert didn't help either.

Kath- Know what's weird? When I think about grade school it literally feels like it happened 50 years ago and not 30.

Shit, you find me at age 60 at some reunion tour, you have my permission to stone me on sight.

Ice- I might have a better idea. We'll all show up for the 1st date of the reunion tour and stone the bands to ensure Lollapalooza 2040 ends there.
