Remember this Time cover?
"All The Rage", gotta love it. Yeah, Time always went out of their way to be dickheads.

How true.
Seventeen years on, I can't tell you what the hell Pearl Jam's songs are about. Oh, I know what they SOUND like -- nasal vocals, mid-tempo rock tedium, a phlegmy growl or two -- but as much as I've heard them, they sure don't grab you and tell you what they're about. They're sort of like Joe Walsh solo stuff, but not as much fun.
Time Magazine and their 'generational spokesman' label. I don't think they've done that since they embraced multiculturalism -- if they can't give the spokesman tag to a white person, well, they just won't give it out.

I'm with you on Pearl Jam. What always seemed odd to me was that as "growly" as they sounded it still also seemed very over-produced.
Time is a relic and any last influence they have will go "bye bye" in the next decade.
