Another Lost Generation

I like to make fun of Gen Y. A lot. But right now they're hurting. I've witnessed this first hand with some of the young dudes that got canned from my place of employment. The ones I still speak with are still unemployed or very under-employed.
Bright, eager and unwanted. While unemployment is ravaging just about every part of the global workforce, the most enduring harm is being done to young people who can't grab onto the first rung of the career ladder.

Nuts to them. At least they were wanted somewhere shortly after their college graduation, and not put through ridiculously long probationary employment periods (relics of the last recession which stayed around for a LOOONG time), like in the mid-90's. And now they can hit their late 20s-early 30's hating on young punks. And if they act now, RIGHT NOW, by dropping any mention of post-secondary education from their resume, they can get in on at the bottom floor in the trades. They'll prove useful yet!

Haha! Thanks for bringing me back to reality, Rockie. And welcome to reality Gen Y. It's something your parent's "Baby On Board" sign couldn't protect you from.
