Always too late

Ron Asheton is a babyboomer with Gen X luck. As the guitarist for the legendary Punk band, The Stooges, he forever changed the sound of guitar with his wah drenching and over fuzzed distortion. It was regression, baby! 3 chords and you have a song.

Of course he didn't make much money then since his brother Scott (the drummer) and frontman, Iggy Pop, were unpredictable junkies that once sold one of Ron's guitars at a pawn shop so they could buy some smack.

So what happens? Ron gets a deal with Reverend Guitars in 2008 and then the poor dude dies earlier this year before he could even spend what he received. But in a sense he's lucky. When Punk Rock history is discussed his name is one of the 1st mentioned and most of the others will be beneath even ever being a trivia question.
