Kinda Nostradamuseeee

Dave unearthed a book from 1997 that may have been onto something.
The X’ers gravest Fourth Tuning duty will be their society’s most important pre-seasonal task: to ensure that there can indeed be a new High, a new golden age of hope and prosperity. For the Crisis to end well, X’ers must keep Boomers from wreaking needless destruction and Millennials from marching too mindlessly under their elders’ banner. They will not find it easy to restrain an older generation that will consider itself far wiser than they, and a younger one that will consider itself more deserving. For this, X’ers will require a keen eye, a deft touch, and a rejection of the wild risk taking associated with their youth.

If time does prove for any of this to be true it'll be the first time I acknowledged those particular co-authors as being correct in anything.

LOL!

Good one, Wek! (and Dave).

Now, where's your post about the American girl doll, Julie? huh??

American girl doll, Julie? Did I miss something?

@Wek I think Jen is referring to this post about American Girl Dolls on my site (Julie is the Doll referenced in my post). I suspect that she can't picture the Latchkey Man doing a post on American Girl Dolls. But I am pretty certain, that like most Gen X guys, you are confident about your masculinity :-)

@Wek - By the way, I think Strauss and Howe get a lot of stuff right, even though they are Boomers that constantly cheer lead for the Millennial generation. They acknowledge that our generation will never get credit for anything but will be critical in good outcomes nonetheless. Their earlier works (Generations and The Fourth Turning) were more balanced when it came to the generations. The more recent stuff (Millennials Rising and others) have a more negative tone towards Gen X'ers. But that is probably a reflection of society in general. I complained to Neil Howe a while back about how Gen X is constantly bashed in society and he said "Aren't you used to it yet?". Yeah, I probably am...
