Dougie C speaks

Sweeeeet. And he wrote an essay for the official Olympic brochure.

Are you tired of being known as the writer who popularized the phrase Generation X?

Gen X is my Campbell’s soup cans. For people who can’t remember names, it’s a very helpful memory nudge.

What about those of us who can’t remember what Generation X is? Can you remind us?

If you like the Talking Heads, then you’re probably X.

How would you define the current cultural moment?

I’m starting to wonder if pop culture is in its dying days, because everyone is able to customize their own lives with the images they want to see and the words they want to read and the music they listen to. You don’t have the broader trends like you used to.

I like the comment on pop culture. Makes a good point!

Kinda also means everyone is in thier own world, tho, doesn't it?

Yeah, lots of people seem in their own world. A very spaced out world.
